Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNO): Raja Begum, the mother of the former Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and the former Chairperson of the Fee Fixation Committee, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, passed away after a brief illness in Srinagar. Renowned legal experts, judges and employees of the judiciary, religious and social personalities have expressed their condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads. The deceased was suffering from minor ailments for some time, but her condition suddenly deteriorated two days ago. She was admitted to the hospital on January 21, where she breathed her last. As soon as the news of her death was received, a large number of her loved ones and relatives and leading personalities gathered at her Naz Colony Pantha Chowk residence to participate in the funeral. A large number of people attended the funeral. On this occasion, the local religious scholar, after throwing a brief light on the philosophy of life and death, lead the funeral prayer (Jinazah) of the deceased, which was attended by a large number of people. The body of the deceased was taken to her ancestral home town Kadipora Anantnag for burial, where on the insistence of the local people, the one more prayer (Jinazah) was held, beforea tearful burial in the ancestral graveyard of Kadipora. The deceased was about 88 years old. Her son Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar told that his mother lost her mother in early childhood, which haunted her throughout her life. He said that she was a courageous woman and she performed her duties with determination and sincerity in every phase of life. Even after the death of her husband almost 20 years ago, she took care of her children like a rock and never showed tiredness or helplessness. He said that the deceased was a good-hearted woman and she used to pray for everyone whom she knew. Condolence meetings are being held at her Srinagar residence, Naz Colony, Pantha Chowk, this will continue till January 23. On Wednesday, January 24, congregational prayer ( Fatiha Khwani) will be held at her graveyard, Kadipora Anantnag, at 9 am, while as a special religious meeting will be held at her Pantah Chowk, residence in the afternoon. The renowned legal experts of the valley, besides a large number of judges working in the High Court, Lower Court and District Courts, a large number of lawyers reached their Panta Chowk residence to offer condolence, while people living outside valley took to internet, social media and other means to express condolences and sympathy with Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar in this hour of sorrow. Chairperson Fee Fixation Committee Sunil Hali and the staff have expressed grief over the death of the deceased and have expressed sympathy with Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and his family—(KNO)
